Droughlot tour a success!
Our recent two-day sheep droughtlot workshop held at Coonamble was very timely and attracted plenty of interest with over 80 people attending. Around 20% of these people were local, and others came from far and wide – southern Queensland, Condobolin, Mungindi, Walgett, Wellington, Parkes and Nyngan were some of the areas represented. The event was supported by the Southern Queensland and Northern NSW Innovation Hub, which receives funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
Speakers included Geoff Duddy (Sheep Solutions), Jillian Kelly (AHN), Elise Bowen (Sheep Data Management), Peter Fitzgerald (UNE) and Lu Hogan (Ag360). We also visited three local producers’ farms who have each implemented different feeding systems to facilitate their droughtlotting process. Having a drought feeding facility also allows producers to opportunistically feed animals for profit when market circumstances allow.
We are very proud to be a leading provider of independent livestock production information and a promotor of excellence in agriculture and hope this is the first of many timely, relevant events that we can bring to interested producers.
